Replace Valve Stem Seal Opel Agila A

Remove

  1. 1. Remove camshaft housing
  2. 2. Remove 16 roller cam followers with hydraulic valve lifter

Note. Put to one side in order of removal!

  1. 3. Remove 2 camshaft housing centring pins (1)
  1. 4. Remove MKM-6086 • Insert 2 supports MKM-6086-6 (1) – Adjust support heads laterally outward toward support feet – Tighten 2x bolt • Slide joint MKM-6086-8 (2) onto installation shaft MKM-6086-4 (3) – Slide 2 supports MKM-6086-6 onto installation shaft MKM-6086-4 • Attach both supports with installation shaft to cylinder head – Tighten 4 bolts

Important. Note blind hole threaded bolt lengths!

  1. 5. Attach EN-46782 to 1st cylinder together with EN-46783 (2) and MKM-6086-17 (1) • Screw on stud bolts (5) • Insert EN-46782 with gasket and 2nd cylinder injector (4) – Tighten nut (6) 20 Nm
  1. 6. Attach lever arm • Attach lever arm MKM-6086-7 (3) together with adapter MKM-6086-12 (2) and dismantling head MKM-6086-11 (4) to joint MKM-6086-8 (1)

Important. Ensure compressed air impact.

  1. 7. Remove 2 intake valve springs, 1st cylinder • Carefully depress valve spring with lever arm MKM-6086-7 • Remove 2 valve keepers (arrow) • Remove valve head and valve springs

Important. Dismantling head must be vertically above the valve stem.

  1. 8. Renew 2x valve stem seals • Pull away with KM-840 (1) • Place new valve stem seal (3) on valve stem (2) • Drive to stop with EN-46779 (4)

Note. Coal new valve stem seal with oil.

  1. 9. Complete assembly head MKM-6086-100-1 • Assemble mounting (1), fixing sleeve (2), pressure piece MKM-6086-13 (3), spring (4) screw connection (5) and lever mounting MKM-6086-12 (6) to form assembly head.

Note. Comply with manufacturer's instructions!

  1. 10. Install 2 intake valve springs, 1st cylinder • Insert valve spring and valve head • Insert valve keepers in assembly head MKM-6086-100-1 (1) – Push tensioning sleeve (2) in the direction of the lever arm mounting – Insert valve keepers – Push tensioning sleeve in the direction of the valve • Attach assembly head to lever arm

Important. Insert valve keepers with the neck towards the valve.

Important. Ensure compressed air impact.

  1. 11. Install valve keepers • Push valve spring carefully downwards (arrow) • Check seat of valve keepers (2)

Important. Assembly head must be vertically above the valve stem. Valve keepers (2) must engage audibly.

Important. Do not make 2nd attempt without checking that both valve keepers sit in assembly head.

  1. 12. Attach dismantling head MKM-6086-11 to adapter MKM-6086-12
  2. 13. Attach adapter (1) to bore (2)
  1. 14. Remove 2 valve springs, 1st cylinder exhaust valve
  2. 15. Replace valve stem seal
  3. 16. Attach assembly head MKM-6086-100-1 to adapter MKM-6086-12
  4. 17. Install 2 valve springs, 1st cylinder exhaust valve • Attach assembly head
  5. 18. Attach EN-46783 to 2nd cylinder • Discontinue compressed air supply • Remove EN-46782 with 2nd cylinder injector – Unscrew nut • Install EN-46782 in 2nd cylinder – Insert with 1st cylinder injector – Tighten nut 20 Nm • Apply compressed air to 2nd cylinder
  6. 19. Remove 2 valve springs, 1st cylinder exhaust valve • Attach dismantling head
  7. 20. Replace valve stem seal
  8. 21. Install 2 valve springs, 1st cylinder exhaust valve • Attach assembly head
  9. 22. Transfer adapter
  10. 23. Remove 2 valve springs, 2nd cylinder intake valve • Attach dismantling head
  11. 24. Replace valve stem seal
  12. 25. Install 2 valve springs, 2nd cylinder intake valve • Attach assembly head
  13. 26. Attach EN-46783 to 3rd cylinder • Discontinue compressed air supply • Remove EN-46782 with 1st cylinder injector – Unscrew nut – Unscrew stud bolts • Screw on stud bolts • Install EN-46782 with gasket in 3rd cylinder – Insert together with 4th cylinder injector – Tighten nut 20 Nm • Apply compressed air to 3rd cylinder

Important. Note blind hole threaded bolt lengths

  1. 27. Remove 2 valve springs, 3rd cylinder intake valve • Attach dismantling head
  2. 28. Replace valve stem seal
  3. 29. Install 2 valve springs, 3rd cylinder intake valve • Attach assembly head
  4. 30. Transfer adapter
  5. 31. Remove 2 valve springs, 3rd cylinder exhaust valve • Attach dismantling head
  6. 32. Replace valve stem seal
  7. 33. Install 2 valve springs, 3rd cylinder exhaust valve • Attach assembly head
  8. 34. Attach EN-46783 to 4th cylinder • Discontinue compressed air supply • Remove EN-46782 with 4th cylinder injector – Unscrew nut • Install EN-46782 in 4th cylinder – Insert with 3rd cylinder injector – Tighten nut 20 Nm • Apply compressed air to 4th cylinder
  9. 35. Remove 2 valve springs, 4th cylinder exhaust valve • Attach dismantling head
  10. 36. Replace valve stem seal
  11. 37. Install 2 valve springs, 4th cylinder exhaust valve • Attach assembly head
  12. 38. Transfer adapter
  13. 39. Remove 2 valve springs, 4th cylinder intake valve • Attach dismantling head
  14. 40. Replace valve stem seal
  15. 41. Install 2 valve springs, 4th cylinder intake valve • Attach assembly head
  16. 42. Remove EN-46783 from 4th cylinder • Discontinue compressed air supply • Remove EN-46782 with 3rd cylinder injector – Unscrew nut • Unscrew stud bolts
  17. 43. Detach MKM-6086 • Unscrew 4x bolts

Install

  1. 44. Insert 2 camshaft housing centring pins
  2. 45. Insert 16 roller cam followers

Note. Note order of removal!

  1. 46. Install camshaft housing
