Replace Piston Rings Opel Agila A

Remove

  1. 1. Remove piston with con-rod

Important. Do not damage piston and con-rod. Use protective jaws.

  1. 2. Place piston with con-rod in vice

Important. Maximum ring gap spread must not exceed measurement I ( 28 mm )

  1. 3. Remove piston rings • Remove 3 piston rings using piston ring pliers (1)
  1. 4. Check piston ring gap play using feeler gauge • Insert piston ring in cylinder bore • Permissible gap play: – 1st compression ring (1) 0.20 – 0.30 mm – 2nd. compression ring (2) 1.00 – 1.50 mm – Oil scraper ring (3) 0.25 – 0.50 mm
  2. 5. Check piston ring axial play using feeler gauge in piston ring groove • Permissible axial play: – 1st compression ring (1) 0.09 – 0.13 mm – 2nd compression ring (2) 0.04 – 0.08 mm – Oil scraper ring (3) 0.03 – 0.07 mm

Install

Important. Maximum ring gap spread must not exceed measurement I ( 28 mm )

  1. 6. Install piston rings • Insert 3 piston rings in ring grooves using piston ring pliers (1)

Note. Note marking on piston rings

  1. 7. Adjust piston ring gaps • Position piston ring gaps so that they are displaced 120° to one another
  1. 8. Remove piston with con-rod from vice
  2. 9. Install piston with con-rod
