Replace Con-Rod Bearing Opel Agila A

Remove

  1. 1. Remove oil pan
  2. 2. Detach oil baffle plate (2) • Unscrew 6 bolt (1)
  1. 3. Set crankshaft to 1st cylinder TDC • Use flange bolt of torsional vibration damper to turn in direction of engine rotation until con-rod bearing journals of 2nd and 3rd cylinder lie below top dead centre.
  2. 4. Remove con-rod bearing caps (1), 2nd and 3rd cylinder • Unscrew 4x bolts

Note. Marking (2) on con-rod and con-rod bearing cap should face intake side. Apply markings if none are found!

Important. The mating surfaces of the cod-rods and the con-rod bearing caps form an individual fit and must not be damaged or exchanged. Do not lay anything on mating surfaces!

  1. 5. Remove 4 bearing shells

Note. Note order of removal!

  1. 6. Inspect components • Con-rod journal, con-rod bearing cap, bearing shells

Install

Important. Align con-rod bearing shell with centre of con-rod and con-rod bearing cap

  1. 7. Insert 4 con-rod bearing shells (1) • In con-rod and con-rod bearing cap (2) • Degrease 2 con-rod bearing journals

Note. Insert con-rod bearing shell with oil bore (3) in con-rod bearing cap.

Important. Note order and installation position. Marking on con-rod and con-rod bearing cap should face intake side.

  1. 8. Install con-rod bearing caps, 2nd and 3rd cylinder • Use new bolts • Coat con-rod journal with engine oil • Tighten 4 bolts 20 Nm + 40°

Remove

  1. 9. Set crankshaft to 2nd cylinder TDC • Use flange bolt of torsional vibration damper to turn in direction of engine rotation until con-rod bearing journals of 1st and 4th cylinder lie below top dead centre.
  2. 10. Remove con-rod bearing caps, 1st and 4th cylinder • Unscrew 4x bolts

Note. Marking on con-rod and con-rod bearing cap should face intake side. Apply markings if none are found!

  1. 11. Remove 4 con-rod bearing shells

Note. Note order of removal.

  1. 12. Inspect components • Con-rod journal, con-rod bearing cap, bearing shells

Install

Important. Align con-rod bearing shell with centre of con-rod and con-rod bearing cap

  1. 13. Insert 4 con-rod bearing shells (1) • In con-rod and con-rod bearing cap (2) • Degrease 2 con-rod bearing journals

Note. Insert con-rod bearing shell with oil bore (3) in con-rod bearing cap.

Important. Note order and installation position! Marking on con-rod and con-rod bearing cap should face intake side.

  1. 14. Install con-rod bearing caps, 1st and 4th cylinder • Use new bolts • Coat con-rod journal with engine oil • Tighten 4 bolts 20 Nm + 40°
  2. 15. Attach oil baffle plate • Tighten 6x bolt 9 Nm
  3. 16. Install oil pan
