CHECKING COMPONENTS AND WIRING

  1. Ignition off Check the fuse for the signal cable from the ignition lock. If the fuse has blown, check the cable. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Disconnect the engine control module (ECM). Check the signal cable from the ignition lock. Check for a short-circuit to supply. Check for an open-circuit. Measure between: Engine control module (ECM) terminal #B17 and the central electronic module (CEM). Remedy as necessary. 1. Ignition off HINT: This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be stored if a battery charger with too high charge voltage has been connected. Check the generator (GEN) brushes (carbon). Check that the brushes can move in the regulator housing. The brushes are lightly sprung. Also check the slip rings. If the brushes and slip rings appear to be OK, try a new alternator control module (ACM) (charge regulator). Remedy as necessary.
