How to Replace the Engine Oil with Filter Opel Vivaro A

1. Remove oil level dipstick/filler cap from guide tube

2. Raise vehicle

3. Remove engine and transmission undershield from vehicle

4. Position oil drain container, then drain engine oil

Observe the relevant environmental requirements when disposing of used engine oil

  • Remove oil drain plug

5. Remove oil filter using Tool KM-6164

Observe the relevant environmental requirements when disposing of used oil filters

6. Install new oil filter using Tool KM-6164

  • Apply clean engine oil to sealing ring
  • Tighten oil filter 3/4 of a turn after making contact with cylinder block surface

7. Install drain plug 20 Nm

  • Use new sealing ring

8. Install engine and transmission undershield to vehicle

9. Lower vehicle

10. Fill engine with oil – see “Technical Data”

11. Install oil level dipstick/filler cap to guide tube

Important: A characteristic of F9Q engines is that on refill, engine oil may take time to reach the oil pan. To avoid engine damage, check that sufficient oil shows on the dipstick before starting the engine.

12. Run engine to prime oil filter

13. Stop engine and check oil level top-up to correct level

Important: Wait approximately 15 minutes before checking oil level, to allow normal oil accumulation in engine to drain into oil pan.
