The oil pump is an integral gear pump and is positioned on the front crankshaft journal. The oil pump is therefore driven directly by the crankshaft.

The oil pressure is regulated from the main oil duct.

The oil suction point in the oil pan is positioned to guarantee a safe supply of oil even under the most extreme conditions.

The oil filter is fastened upright on the intake side in the centre of the engine for easy maintenance. The oil filter can be changed from the top, a lifting ramp is not required. The large filter surface means long change intervals which, together with the very low oil residue in the oil filter, make this arrangement extremely environmentally sound.

To prevent the oil filter from running dry when the engine is not operating, a return valve is integrated into the filter housing.

A thermostat in the oil filter housing ensures that the oil heats up quickly and maintains a constant operating temperature.

The oil cooler thermostat opens at 90 °C / 194 °F.

Oil Circuit

The single - part die - cast aluminium oil pan is designed for low noise emission. The seal to the cylinder lock is an asbestos - free aramide flat gasket. The oil pan side of the gasket has a anti - seize coating.

The reinforcement shell (1) bolted to the cylinder lock with an integrated oil baffle plate decreases oil foaming.

Oil Circuit

A powerful air / oil cooler provides adequate oil cooling even under extreme loads and climatic conditions.

The oil cooler is fastened in an insulated mount to prevent it from transmitting noise from the engine to the body

The installation position at the front left, behind the front panelling, ensures that it can be reached by enough cooling air.
