How to Adjust the Timing Opel Omega B

Remove

Version with AC: Remove visco-fan – see operation "Visco-fan, Remove and Install".

Remove cylinder head cover – see operation "Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install".

Remove vacuum pump – see operation "Vacuum Pump, Remove and Install".

Adjust

Turn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation to "1st Cylinder TDC" – see operation "Timing, Check". Release oil spray nozzle (1) from camshaft sprocket – counterhold at hex of camshaft. Turn camshaft until Fixing Tool KM-811 (2) lies flat on sealing surface or support for cylinder head cover.

In engine with a running capacity:of up to approx. 20, 000 kmDimension I = 0 mm
from approx. 20, 000 kmDimension I = 4.61 mm

Caution

The oil injection nozzle should always be replaced.

Remove

Hold camshaft against camshaft hex. Attach flywheel to camshaft using new oil injection nozzle (1) – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. + 35°.

Remove Fixing Tool KM-811 and Test Mandrel KM-813.

Inspect

Turn crankshaft two revolutions in engine rotational direction. Re-check timing – see operation "Check timing". If the setting is wrong, repeat the setting procedure.

Install

Install cylinder head cover – see operation "Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install".

Install vacuum pump – see operation "Vacuum Pump, Remove and Install".

Version with AC: Install visco-fan – see operation "Visco-fan, Remove and Install".
