General

The alternator is a small, high performance type with an integral regulator.

The alternator features are as follows:

  • The regulator is an integrated circuit with the components encapsulated into a solid mould. The regulator controls the voltage produced by the alternator. The voltage setting cannot be adjusted.
  • Two brushes carry the current through the two slip rings to the field coil mounted on the rotor.
  • The regulator and the brush holder assembly are attached to the rear housing.
  • The alternator rotor bearings are sealed for life.
  • The stator windings are assembled on the inside of a laminated core, which forms part of the alternator frame.
  • For vehicles as of MY2011 with the K10B or K12B engine, the charge condition of the alternator is controlled by the intelligent battery sensor. This sensor is installed on the battery negative lead. It detects the temperature around the battery and electrical load condition (current consumption) linearly even when a sudden electrical load variation occurs and thus the engine load is changed.
