- Release fuel pressure. See «FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE»(ref-49505-S39856681012001011500000). Disconnect negative battery cable and battery. Drain engine coolant. Remove engine cover from the dowels on the common chamber. Disconnect mass air flow (MAF) sensor connector, intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose. Remove air cleaner assembly. Disconnect manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, vacuum switch valve (VSV) for induction air control valve (IACV) actuator, ignition coils for left bank, fuel injectors for left bank, idle air control (IAC) valve, throttle position sensor (TPS), bonding cable and any other necessary connectors. Disconnect brake master VAC, canister, VSV for IACV actuator, duty solenoid valve and PCV vacuum hoses.
- Remove upper and lower radiator hoses. Remove engine harness from cylinder head. Remove upper fan shroud. Remove fan clutch and cooling fan. Remove drive belt by pushing down the auto tensioner using spanner. Remove power steering pulley, fan pulley and bracket. Remove idler pulley and auto tensioner. Using Puller (J-8614-01), remove crankshaft pulley.
- Remove timing belt covers. Remove ignition coil assemblies from spark plugs. Remove bolts and cylinder head cover. To install, apply RTV sealant to corners of end camshaft bearing towers. see scheme 3 To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. (Scheme 2)and «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-49505-S22979059872001011500000).
