Removal (DOHC) Acura SLX I

  1. Release fuel pressure. See «FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE»(ref-49505-S39856681012001011500000) . Disconnect battery cables. Mark hood and hood hinge for reassembly reference. Remove hood from vehicle.
  2. Drain engine coolant and oil. Remove air cleaner assembly. Remove radiator upper fan shroud from radiator. Move serpentine belt tensioner to loose side using wrench then remove serpentine belt. Remove cooling fan assembly by removing 4 fixing nuts. Using Puller (J-8614-01), remove crankshaft pulley bolt and pulley.
  3. Remove timing belt. See «TIMING BELT»(ref-49505-S12092104192001011500000) . Remove cylinder head covers. See «CYLINDER HEAD COVERS»(ref-49505-S37821940222001011500000) .
  4. Remove the accelerator pedal cable by disconnecting from throttle body and cable bracket. Remove vacuum booster hose by disconnecting from common chamber. Disconnect manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, idle air control valve (IACV), throttle position sensor (TPS), solenoid valve, electronic vacuum sensing valve (EVSV) and EGR valve connectors. Disconnect canister vacuum switch valve (VSV) vacuum hoses, positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose and fuel rail assembly with pressure control valve bracket. Remove the ventilation hose from throttle valve and intake duct and remove water hose. Remove the 4 throttle body fixing bolts. Remove the EGR valve assembly by removing fixing bolt and nut on common chamber. Remove fuel hose bracket by removing 2 bolts from common chamber rear side. Remove common chamber by removing 4 bolts and 4 nuts.
  5. Loosen 8 cylinder head bolts. Remove cylinder heads and gasket.
