- Connect TECH 2 scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on and check for other stored DTCs. If DTCs P1251, P1252, P1253, P1261, P1264, P1602-P1608, P1610, P1611, P1613 or P1621 are present, go to appropriate diagnostic test procedure. If none are present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds to ensure that throttle valve motor has no current going to it. Move pedal arm at throttle body and watch to see if throttle arm follows it. (Схема №17)- (Схема №18). If throttle arm does follow movement of pedal arm, limp-home solenoid may have been engaged without ECM being aware of it. Go to step 6. If throttle arm does not follow movement of pedal arm, go to next step.
- Disconnect EVAP canister purge valve electrical connector. (Схема №1)- (Схема №5). Connect SST 86 11 857 test light (Схема №9) or equivalent between purge valve harness connector terminals No. 1 and 2 to prevent code from setting during testing. Turn off A/C, start engine and allow to idle. Engine must be fully warmed up. Use scan tool to check AIRMASS DEVIATION FROM CALCULATED. If deviation is between -15 percent to -25 percent, go to next step. If deviation is not as specified, go to step 5.
- Check for plugged EVAP canister purge valve circuit or crankcase ventilation system, vacuum leaks at power brake booster or vacuum hoses. Pinch off vacuum hoses and watch scan tool display. There should be no noticeable change in airmass deviation, except that small crankcase ventilation hose should cause about a 5 percent change when pinched off. Repair as necessary. Go to step 7.
- Reconnect EVAP canister purge valve electrical connector. Replace throttle body. See «THROTTLE BODY»(ref-2997-S11301002242000041700000) under FUEL SYSTEMS in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Use scan tool to clear T7 Trionic Engine Management System DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait 10 seconds. Reset limp-home mechanism. See «RESETTING LIMP-HOME SOLENOID»(ref-2691-S09048311872000041100000) under TESTING & REPAIR PROCEDURE. Go to next step.
- Start engine and allow it to run until radiator fan turns on. Turn A/C, rear window defroster and headlights on to create load on engine. Use scan tool to select READ VALUE: IDLE SPEED DEVIATION FROM REQUESTED. If scan tool display reads Max +/- 50 RPM, clear DTCs. If display reads other than specified, problem is still present. Restart diagnostic procedure.
