Engine at operating temperature

(engine oil temperature ³ 80° C/176° F).

Unscrew all cable connections from sheathed glow plugs and insulate positive cable.

Remove sheathed glow plugs.

Remove wiring harness plug (1) for fuel feed solenoid valve from bracket (2) and disconnect wiring harness plug.

Thus, fuel feed is interrupted.

Use compression tester with measuring range of

100 - 400 kPa (10 to 40 bar) in conjunction with Connecting Piece (1) KM-649 and Adapter

KM-533-A (2).

Insert Connecting Piece (1) KM-649 in sheathed glow plug bore.

Connect compression tester with flexible connecting hose.

Actuate starter for approx. 4 seconds - min. engine speed approx. 200 rpm.

Permissible difference in pressure between individual cylinders approx. 150 kPa (1.5 bar).

Compression: 1700 kPa (17 bar) - 2800 kPa (28 bar).

Sheathed glow plugs in cylinder head -

20 Nm/15 lbf. ft.

Connect wiring harness plug for fuel cut-off solenoid valve (1) and press into bracket (2).

Fasten cable connections to sheathed glow plugs.
