Changes Relative to C 16 XE Engine

· Modified intake manifold

The aluminium cast two-piece intake manifold has been newly designed. The targets were low engine noise and easy disassembly for repair work. The intake cross sections of the X 14 XE engine are slightly smaller than those of the X 16 XE engine.

· Cylinder head with integrated exhaust duct on intake pipe side (for X 14 XE reduced intake duct cross section and modified exhaust manifold).

· Electronically controlled exhaust gas recirculation.

· Secondary air injection.

· Insulated exhaust line.

· Use of new domed pistons (1) in X 14 XE engine

The X 16 XE engine has the pistons (2) from the C 16 XE engine.

· Compression ratio of 10.5 : 1.

· Installation of steel sheet metal oil pan in X 14 XE engine.

· Modified Multec-S

The function of the hot wire mass air flow meter has been taken over by the intake manifold pressure sensor (MAP sensor) and the intake air temperature sensor (MAT sensor).

· Modified air intake pipe and new air cleaner housing.

· Flat flywheel (Æ 277 mm, without ring gear) and modified clutch for X 14 XE.
