Exhaust Gas Recirculation Opel Tigra A

DOHC Petrol Engine ~106 words

Exhaust Gas Recirculation

To conform with the stricter exhaust legislation (94/12/EEC) planned for 1996, the X 14 XE and X 16 XE engines for the Tigra are equipped with an electronically controlled exhaust gas recirculation system and a secondary air injection system.

The electronically controlled exhaust gas recirculation system is a decisive factor in nitrogen oxide emission reduction. It guides a part of the exhaust gas back to the engine for recombustion.

The core of this system is an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve (1), fitted in the lower part of the intake manifold and connected to the exhaust manifold by a duct.
