Differences between X 14 XE / X 16 XE engines

· The cylinder block of the X 14 XE has a different cylinder bore diameter than the cylinder blocks of the C 16 XE and X 16 XE engines.

· The cylinder head of the X 14 XE engine has lower intake cross sections than the X 16 XE engine, and a specific camshaft.

· The increased compression ratio has been attained by using new domed pistons.

The new engines belong to the new ECOTEC generation of engines. The interaction of exhaust gas recirculation, the secondary air injection system and the newly designed engine management system reduces both emissions and fuel consumption.

The abbreviation ECOTEC stands for Emission Consumption Optimization TEChnology".

The X 14 XE and X 16 XE engines fulfil today the 94/12/EEC exhaust emission limits planned for 1996.
