Compression, Check
Engine at operating temperature (oil temperature ≥ 80 �C/176 �F) Compression is checked using a compression recorder for diesel engines. Range 1000 to 4000 kPa (10 to 40 bar).
Remove contact rail from sheathed glow plugs. Remove all sheathed glow plugs. Disconnect wiring plug connection from solenoid cutoff valve.
Screw Adapter KM-649 for compression recorder into relevant sheathed glow plug bore.
Connect compression recorder with flexible connecting hose.
Crank engine until measured value no longer increases. Minimum engine speed 200 rpm.
Determined compression should not be less than 2200 kPa (22 bar). Permissible pressure difference between individual cylinders not greater than 150 kPa (1.5 bar).
Remove compression recorder and Adapter KM-649.
Install sheathed glow plugs and contact rail. Connect solenoid cutoff valve wiring plug connection and press into bracket below injection pump.
Sheathed glow plugs to cylinder head - 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.
