Important: In order to completely drain the oil from the oil pan internal baffling, the bottom of the oil pan must be level during the oil drain procedure.

- Open the hood.
- Remove the oil fill cap.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to «LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE»(ref-180627-S40085739202005072800000) in General Information.
- Place a oil drain pan under the oil pan drain plug.
- Remove the oil pan drain plug.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Wipe the excess oil from the drain plug hole and plug.
- Remove the oil filter from the engine block. Important: Check the old oil filter to ensure that the filter seal is not left on the engine block.
- Wipe the excess oil from the oil filter mounting.

- Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil. NOTE: Refer to «FASTENER NOTICE»(ref-175132-S17785009232005041500000) in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the oil filter to the engine block. Tighten Tighten the oil filter to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Install the oil drain plug to the engine block. Tighten Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the crankcase with the proper quantity and grade of engine oil.
- Remove the oil level indicator.
- Wipe the indicator with a clean cloth.
- Install the oil level indicator.
- Remove the oil level indicator in order to check the level.
- Add oil if necessary.
- Close the hood.
