The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

1. 2. The inspection is to verify the drive belt is correctly installed on all of the drive belt pulleys. Wear on the drive belt may be caused by mis-positioning the drive belt by one groove on a pulley.
2. 3. The installation of a drive belt that is two wide or two narrow will cause wear on the drive belt. The drive belt ribs should match all of the grooves on all of the pulleys.
3. 4. This inspection is to verify the drive belt is not contacting any parts of the engine or body while the engine is operating. There should be sufficient clearance when the drive belt accessory drive components load varies. The drive belt should not come in contact with an engine or a body component when snapping the throttle.

1. Remove oil filler neck.
2. Lift the front of the shield up and pull towards the front of the vehicle.
3. Remove fuel injector sight shield.

Scheme 41

1. Align the extension on the rear edge of the shield to the bracket on the rear of the engine.
2. Push the shield rearward and push down to align it with the oil filler hole.
3. Install oil filler neck.

Scheme 42

1. Remove the nut securing the fuel injector sight shield to the engine.
2. Remove oil filler neck.
3. Lift the front of the shield up and pull towards the front of the vehicle.
4. Remove fuel injector sight shield from the engine.

Installation Procedure

1. Align the rear edge of the shield to the bracket on the rear of the engine.
2. Push the shield down to align it with the stud and the oil filler hole.
3. Install oil filler neck. NOTE: Refer to «FASTENER NOTICE»(ref-175132-S17785009232005041500000) .
4. Install the fuel injector sight shield nut. Tighten Tighten the fuel injector sight shield nut to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
