- Remove the automatic transaxle. Refer to «TRANSAXLE (2003)»(ref-153698-S32191285942003042200000) in Removal & Installation - A/T.
- Use the J 37096 to secure the flywheel in order to prevent the crankshaft from rotating.
- Loosen the 6 flywheel bolts.
- Remove 5 of the 6 flywheel bolts leaving 1 bolt at the top of the crankshaft rotation.
- Grip the flywheel and remove the remaining bolt. Do not drop the flywheel when removing the final bolt.
- Remove the engine flywheel retainer and the flywheel.
- Clean the engine flywheel bolt threads and bolt holes.

- Install the flywheel and the flywheel retainer.
- Use the J 37096 to secure the flywheel in order to prevent the crankshaft from rotating. NOTE: Refer to «FASTENER NOTICE»(ref-175132-S17785009232005041500000) in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the engine flywheel bolts. Tighten Tighten the bolts to 71 N.m (52 lb ft).
- Measure the flywheel runout: 4.1. Install a dial indicator on the engine block and check the engine flywheel runout at three attaching bosses. Refer to «ENGINE MECHANICAL SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-189348-S35181383852005090900000) . 4.2. If the condition cannot be corrected, replace the engine flywheel.
- Install the automatic transaxle. Refer to «TRANSAXLE (2003)»(ref-153698-S32191285942003042200000) in Removal & Installation - A/T.
