  1. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-494141-S07171082372012081000000)
  2. REMOVE FRONT OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 10»(ref-494142-S07546098752012081000000)
  3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER ASSEMBLY SEAL See step 6

  5. REMOVE ECM While slightly pushing portion A of the lever of the ECM connector, turn the lever until it makes a click sound. Disconnect the 2 ECM connectors. NOTE: After disconnecting the connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting part of the connectors. Remove the 3 bolts and the ECM with the brackets.
  6. REMOVE ECM BRACKET Remove the 2 screws and the ECM bracket.
  7. REMOVE NO. 2 ECM BRACKET Remove the 3 screws and the No. 2 ECM bracket.

Scheme 189: INSTALLATION
  1. INSTALL ECM BRACKET Install the ECM bracket to the ECM with the 2 screws.
  2. INSTALL NO. 2 ECM BRACKET Install the No. 2 ECM bracket to the ECM with the 3 screws.
  3. INSTALL ECM Install the ECM with the 3 bolts. Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) Pull down the lever to engage the lock and connect the 2 connectors to the ECM. NOTE: Make sure that the 2 levers are securely locked. When connecting the connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not become stuck between the connectors and other parts.

Register the ECM communication ID for the immobilizer system when replacing the ECM. Refer to «REGISTRATION»(ref-493955-S21275878882012081000000) . Perform Initialization when replacing the ECM. INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY Install the accelerator pedal sensor assembly with the 2 nuts. Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) NOTE: Avoid physical shocks to the accelerator pedal sensor assembly. Connect the accelerator pedal sensor assembly connector.

  2. REMOVE VVT SENSOR (for Intake Side of Bank 1) Disconnect the sensor connector. Remove the bolt and the sensor.
  3. REMOVE VVT SENSOR (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1) Disconnect the sensor connector. Remove the bolt and the sensor.
  4. REMOVE VVT SENSOR (for Intake Side of Bank 2) Disconnect the sensor connector. Remove the bolt and the sensor.

  1. INSTALL VVT SENSOR (for Intake Side of Bank 1) Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring of the sensor. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 O-Ring NOTE: When reusing the sensor, inspect the O-ring. If the O-ring has scratches or cuts, replace the sensor. Install the sensor with the bolt. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the sensor connector.

  1. INSPECT CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Component without harness connected (Crankshaft Position Sensor) Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 Cold 1630 to 2740 ohms Hot 2065 to 3225 ohms HINT: In the table above, the terms "Cold" and "Hot" refer to the temperature of the coils. Cold means approximately -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F). Hot means approximately 50 to 100°C (122 to 212°F). If the resistance is not as specified, replace the crankshaft position sensor.

  1. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring on the crankshaft position sensor.   1. INSTALL SPARK PLUG Using a 16 mm spark plug wrench, install the 6 spark plugs. Torque: 18 N*m (184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf)
  2. INSTALL IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY Install the 6 ignition coils with the 6 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the 6 ignition coil connectors. Connect the 3 wire harness clamps.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 Approx. 20°C (68°F) 2.32 to 2.59 kohms Approx. 80°C (176°F) 0.310 to 0.326 kohms NOTE: When checking the sensor in water, keep the terminals dry. After the check, wipe the sensor dry. If the result is not as specified, replace the sensor.

  1. INSTALL ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Install a new gasket onto the engine coolant temperature sensor. Torque: 20 N*m (200 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Fulcrum Length 30 mm *b Fulcrum Length 300 mm SST: 09224-00010 without SST Torque: 44 N*m (449 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) with SST Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf) HINT: The "with SST" torque value is effective when using SST with a fulcrum length of 30 mm (1.18 in.).
