INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY Install a new throttle body gasket to the intake air surge tank. Install the throttle body with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses. Connect the throttle body connector and clamp.
  2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 5»(ref-422489-S16576900922011092600000)

  3. REMOVE VACUUM HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY Disconnect the vacuum hose sub-assembly from the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and vacuum switching valve. Remove the 2 clamps. Disconnect the vacuum hose sub-assembly from the duty vacuum switching valve and remove it.
  4. REMOVE DUTY VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE Disconnect the duty vacuum switching valve connector and the clamp. Remove the bolt. Disconnect the hose from the duty vacuum switching valve and remove the duty vacuum switching valve.

  1. INSPECT DUTY VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (OPERATION) Check the operation of the duty vacuum switching valve when positive battery voltage is applied to its terminals. Positive battery voltage is not applied The air from pipe G is flowing out through pipes E and H. Positive battery voltage is applied The air from pipe F is flowing out through pipes E and H.
  2. INSPECT DUTY VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (RESISTANCE) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 19 to 21 ohms If the resistance is not as specified, replace the duty vacuum switching valve.

  1. INSTALL DUTY VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE Connect the vacuum hose sub-assembly to the duty vacuum switching valve. Connect the hose to the duty vacuum switching valve. Install the duty vacuum switching valve with a bolt. Torque: 4.0 N*m (41 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf) Connect the duty vacuum switching valve connector and clamp.
  2. INSTALL VACUUM HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY Install the clamp of the vacuum hose sub-assembly to the front engine mounting insulator assembly. Install the 2 clamps. Connect the vacuum hose sub-assembly to the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and vacuum switching valve.
  3. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 100»(ref-422437-S14114071742011092600000)

DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation. NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected, refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-422289-S16028026952011092600000) .

  7. REMOVE ECM Disconnect the 6 ECM connectors. Disconnect the tire pressure warning ECU connector and remove the nut and tire pressure warning ECU. Separate the 2 wire harness clamps. Remove the 2 nuts, bolt and ECM with the ECM brackets. Remove the 4 screws and 2 ECM brackets from the ECM.
  1. INSTALL ECM Install the 2 ECM brackets to the ECM with the 4 screws. Install the ECM with the ECM brackets with the bolt and 2 nuts. Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf) Install the 2 wire harness clamps. Install the tire pressure warning ECU with the nut and connect the tire pressure warning ECU connector. Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf) Connect the 6 ECM connectors.

  10. INITIALIZE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM NOTE: Be sure to register the transmitter IDs of all tires in the ECU before initialization. Be sure to inflate all tires to the proper inflation pressure before initialization. HINT: Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-422303-S04431004032011092600000)
  11. REGISTER IMMOBILISER COMMUNICATION ID NOTE: If the ECM is replaced, register the ECU communication ID for the immobiliser system, refer to «REGISTRATION»(ref-422298-S03991542592011092600000) w/ Smart Key System, refer to «REGISTRATION»(ref-422299-S18826597582011092600000) w/o Smart Key System).
  12. PERFORM INITIALIZATION NOTE: If the ECM is replaced, perform RESET MEMORY (AT initialization), refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-422296-S17226167862011092600000) .

  1. INSTALL ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY NOTE: Avoid physical shock to the accelerator pedal assembly. Do not disassemble the accelerator pedal assembly. Install the accelerator pedal assembly with the 2 nuts. Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) Connect the accelerator pedal assembly connector.

  1. INSPECT CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Temperature Specified Condition Cold 1630 to 2740 ohms Hot 2065 to 3225 ohms NOTE: "Cold" and "Hot" mean the temperature of the coils themselves. "Cold" is from -10°C (14°F) to 50°C (122°F) and "Hot" is from 50°C (122°F) to 100°C (212°F). If the resistance is not as specified, replace the crankshaft position sensor.
  1. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring on the crankshaft position sensor. Install the crankshaft position sensor with the bolt. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the crankshaft position sensor connector.

  1. SEPARATE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 32»(ref-422437-S32620109432011092600000)
  2. REMOVE RESERVOIR BRACKET . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 33»(ref-422437-S32620109432011092600000)
  3. REMOVE NO. 1 RELAY BLOCK COVER Remove the No. 1 relay block cover.
  4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 2 claws and disconnect the engine room junction block assembly. Disconnect the 4 connectors.

  1. INSPECT ENGINE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY Inspect the EFI No. 1 fuse. Remove the EFI No. 1 fuse. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance of the fuse. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition EFI No. 1 fuse Always Below 1 ohms Inspect the A/F fuse. Remove the A/F fuse. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance of the fuse. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A/F fuse Always Below 1 ohms Inspect the ETCS fuse. Remove the ETCS fuse. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance of the fuse. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition ETCS fuse Always Below 1 ohms Inspect EFI relay. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 2E-12 - 2E-7 No battery voltage applied 10 kohms or higher 2E-12 - 2E-7 Battery voltage applied to terminals 2E-10 and 2E-9 Below 1 ohms NOTE: While using the battery for the inspection, do not bring the positive and negative tester probes too close to each other as a short circuit may occur.   1. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY Connect the 4 connectors. Attach the engine room junction block assembly.
  2. INSTALL NO. 1 RELAY BLOCK COVER Install the No. 1 relay block cover.
  3. INSTALL RESERVOIR BRACKET . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 61»(ref-422437-S14114071742011092600000)
  4. INSTALL BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 62»(ref-422437-S14114071742011092600000)
