CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
  3. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  5. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
  6. Start the engine.
  7. Idle the engine for 10 seconds or more [A].
  8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes [B].
  9. Read the pending DTCs. HINT: If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
  11. Input the DTC: P0351, P0352, P0353, P0354, P0355, P0356, P0357 or P0358.

Scheme 736: CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
  3. Turn the Techstream on.
  4. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  6. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
  7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Monitor / Current Monitor.
  8. Check that Catalyst Efficiency / Current is Incomplete.
  9. Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature is 75°C (167°F) or higher [A].
  10. Drive the vehicle at approximately 60 km/h (38 mph) for 10 minutes or more [B]. HINT: Drive the vehicle while keeping the engine load as constant as possible. The monitor item will change to Complete as the catalyst efficiency monitor operates [C].
  11. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
  12. Check if any DTCs (pending DTCs) are stored. HINT: If the monitor does not change to Complete, and no pending DTCs are stored, perform the following procedure.
  13. Drive the vehicle at a speed between 75 and 100 km/h (47 and 63 mph) for 10 minutes or more [D]. HINT: Drive the vehicle while keeping the engine load as constant as possible. The monitor item will change to Complete as the catalyst efficiency monitor operates [E].
  14. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
  15. Check if any DTCs (pending DTCs) are stored.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0420 AND/OR P0430) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the tester on. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Code. Read the DTCs. Result Display (DTC Output) Proceed to P0420 and/or P0430 A P0420 and/or P0430 and other DTCs B HINT: If any DTCs other than P0420 or P0430 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first. B --> See step 8 A: Go to next step
  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (AIR FUEL RATIO CONTROL) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine and turn the tester on. Warm up the engine at an engine speed of 2500 RPM for approximately 90 seconds. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor. Perform the Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor operation with the engine in an idling condition (press the RIGHT or LEFT button to change the fuel injection volume). Monitor the voltage outputs of the air fuel ratio and heated oxygen sensors (AFS Voltage B1S1 and O2S B1S2 or AFS Voltage B2S1 and O2S B2S2) displayed on the tester. HINT: The Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor operation lowers the fuel injection volume by 12.5% or increases the injection volume by 25%. Each sensor reacts in accordance with increases and decreases in the fuel injection volume. Note. The Evaporative System Check (Automatic Mode) consists of 5 steps performed automatically by the Techstream. It takes a maximum of approximately 23 minutes. Do not perform the Evaporative System Check when the fuel tank is more than 90% full because the cut-off valve may be closed, making the fuel tank leak check unavailable. Do not run the engine during this operation. When the temperature of the fuel is 35°C (95°F) or higher, a large amount of vapor forms and any check results become inaccurate. When performing the Evaporative System Check, keep the fuel temperature below 35°C (95°F).

  9. Check the DTC judgment result. Note. The Evaporative System Check (Automatic Mode) consists of 5 steps performed automatically by the Techstream. It takes a maximum of approximately 23 minutes. Do not perform the Evaporative System Check when the fuel tank is more than 90% full because the cut-off valve may be closed, making the fuel tank leak check unavailable. Do not run the engine during this operation. When the temperature of the fuel is 35°C (95°F) or higher, a large amount of vapor forms and any check results become inaccurate. When performing the Evaporative System Check, keep the fuel temperature below 35°C (95°F).

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
  3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Intake Air.
  4. Check that the intake air temperature is between 4.4°C and 40°C (40 and 104°F).
  5. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  6. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  7. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
  3. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  5. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on [A].
  6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / All Data / Coolant Temp.
  7. Check that "Coolant Temp" in the Data List is within the range of -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F).
  8. Start the engine and warm it up until the coolant temperature is the same as the coolant temperature in the freeze frame data.
  9. Idle the engine for 1 minute or more [B].
  10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes [C].
  11. Read the pending DTCs. HINT: If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  12. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
  13. Input the DTC: P050A.
  14. Check the DTC judgment result.   2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL TRIM) HINT: Calculate the total fuel trim values to check the characteristic deviation of the mass air flow meter. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine. Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / All Data / Short FT #1 and Long FT #1, or Short FT #2 and Long FT #2. Read the values displayed on the Techstream. Add together the Short FT #1 and Long FT #1, or Short FT #2 and Long FT #2 values to obtain the total fuel trim. Result Total of Short FT #1 and Long FT #1, or Short FT #2 and Long FT #2 values is between -20% and 20%. NG --> See step 5 OK: Go to next step
  3. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY Check for deposits around the throttle valve and check the throttle valve condition. OK No deposits around throttle valve and throttle valve moves smoothly. NG --> See step 4 OK: Go to next step
  4. REPAIR OR REPLACE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY Repair or replace the throttle body assembly. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-422482-S15054237452011092600000) . NEXT --> See step 14

  8. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (CONTROL THE VVT SYSTEM) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine and turn the Techstream on. Warm up the engine. Scheme 750: CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
  3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  5. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on [A].
  6. Idle the engine for 5 seconds or more [B].
  7. Drive the vehicle at 24 km/h (15 mph) or more for 20 seconds or more [C].
  8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes [D].
  9. Read the pending DTCs. HINT: If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
  11. Input the DTC: P0617.
  12. Check the DTC judgment result.
