With the infotainment systems CCRT 2008 and NCDC 2015, access to the OnStar service is possible in different countries by pressing the OnStar button.
The OnStar service is an operator-supported information service. The driver communicates with a call centre employee and immediately receives the required information in his language:
- Traffic information
- Route guidance
- Break-down management
- Personal travel guide
The OnStar call centre simultaneously receives information regarding the vehicle and the vehicle position.
In the case of the CCRT 2008 radio, the "vehicle position" information is only transmitted to the call centre if the GPS control unit (GPS module ) is installed.
