Table 4, Engine Does not Start
Table 4 lists the checks that are necessary if TECH 1 receives data from the control module, no trouble code is stored, but the engine does not start.
The following points should be checked:
1. The battery voltage during the starting process must be greater than 8 Volt.
2. Check the injection nozzles (see also the trouble search in check steps 14 and 22)
3. In Data list "F0" read the engine speed during the starting process from TECH 1. The starting speed should be between 100 and 300 rpm. If the starter speed shows extreme variation, there may be an intermittent contact in the line to the inductive pulse generator (REF).
4. Check the fuel pressure in the fuel line and the return line.
5. Fuel pump relay tightens, pump runs for appr. 2 sec. after ignition is turned "ON".
6. Compression OK ?
7. Check engine ground lines (see also the trouble search in check step 01, and also table 1).
8. Check direct ignition system (see also the trouble search in check steps 09, 10 and 12).
9. Leakage in intake manifold
10. Catalytic converter damaged - blocked exhaust pipe!
11. Exhaust gas recirculation valve open (stuck)
12. P/N switch defective ? (See also the trouble search in check step 27)
