Engine running at idle speed, at operating temperature

CLOSED

This check step only shows whether the control module has detected the conditions for O2 SENSOR LOOP CLOSED or not. The conditions for the detection of the closed regulator loop are as follows:

1: The oxygen sensor must once exceed a voltage of 600 mV or fall below a voltage of 300 mV, and

2: the engine operating temperature must be above 20°C, or

3: the engine operating temperature must have exceeded appr. 50°C after the engine has been started at below 18°C and

4: trouble code 44 or 45 must not be set.

If power enrichment is displayed as ACTIVE in check step 30, the TECH 1 display remains on CLOSED in this check step if the above conditions are fulfilled, even though in this case the regulation function of the control module is switched off and the oxygen sensor voltage can not be used for correction of the air/fuel ratio.

i.e. Check step 15 does not show whether the control module is actually regulating, but merely whether it is ready to regulate (whether the conditions for regulation are fulfilled)
