Replace Alternator Regulator (Z 18 XE, with AC, Lhd) Opel Meriva A

1. 1. Open bonnet

Important. In vehicles with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic settings every time the battery is disconnected and has to be recalibrated.

2. 2. Disconnect battery • Detach ground cable
3. 3. Remove engine cover. • Unscrew oil filler port cover • Unscrew 2x bolt • Screw on oil filler port cover
4. 4. Remove air cleaner housing (1) • Disconnect 2x wiring harness plug – Hot film mass air flow sensor (5), tank vent valve (2) • Unclip tank vent valve • Unscrew bolt (arrow) • Detach air intake pipe (4) from throttle valve module – Release clamp • Detach engine vent hose (3) • Remove air intake hose

5. 5. Loosen front wheel • Undo 4x bolts
6. 6. Raise vehicle by half its height
7. 7. Detach front wheel • Unscrew 4x bolt
8. 8. Raise vehicle by half its height
9. 9. Remove ribbed V-belt cover • Unscrew 3x bolt (1) • Remove clip (arrow)

10. 10. Remove ribbed V-belt • Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner in direction of arrow – Use KM-913-A (2) • Insert KM-6130 (1) • Mark running direction.

11. 11. Remove ribbed V-belt tensioning device • Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner – Remove KM-6130 (2) • Unclamp ribbed V-belt tensioner • Unscrew bolt (1)

12. 12. Lower vehicle by its full height
13. 13. Release alternator • Disconnect camshaft sensor wiring harness plug – Unclip wiring harness plug • Remove bolt (arrow)

Note. In the modified version, the bolt is removed from the opposite side.

14. 14. Raise vehicle by its full height
15. 15. Detach water outlet baffle (1)
16. 16. Unclip 2x supply lines • Unclip brake line • Unclip fuel line • Remove bracket (2)

17. 17. Detach alternator support • Disconnect oil pressure switch (3) wiring harness plug • Remove nut (2). • Unscrew 3x bolts (1, 4)

18. 18. Remove alternator support • Unscrew bolt • Remove support
19. 19. Remove alternator • Detach alternator wiring harness – Unscrew 2 nuts (1)

Note. Remove alternator through wheel arch.

20. 20. Detach cover • Unscrew 3x bolts (1, 2) • Detach cover

21. 21. Detach regulator • Unscrew 3 bolts (arrows)

22. 22. Attach regulator • Tighten 3 bolts
23. 23. Attach cover • Tighten 3 bolts
24. 24. Install alternator • Install alternator wiring harness – Tighten 2 nuts

Note. Install alternator through wheel arch.

25. 25. Attach alternator support • Install lower bolt

Note. Do not tighten bolt

26. 26. Lower vehicle by its full height
27. 27. Fasten alternator • Tighten bolt 20 Nm • Attach camshaft sensor wiring harness plug
28. 28. Raise vehicle
29. 29. Attach alternator support • Tighten nuts 35 Nm • Tighten 3x bolt 35 Nm • Connect wiring harness plug to oil pressure switch.
30. 30. Attach water outlet baffle
31. 31. Fasten 2x supply lines • Connect holder • Clip in brake line • Attach fuel line
32. 32. Install ribbed V-belt tensioning device • Tighten bolt 35 Nm
33. 33. Install ribbed V-belt • Release ribbed V-belt tensioner – Use KM-913-A • Remove KM-6130

Note. Observe correct installation position.

34. 34. Install ribbed V-belt cover • Screw in 3x bolt • Install clip
35. 35. Lower vehicle by half its height
36. 36. Attach front wheel • Screw in 4 bolts
37. 37. Lower vehicle by half its height
38. 38. Fasten front wheel • Tighten 4 bolts 110 Nm
39. 39. Install air cleaner housing • Attach air intake manifold • Attach engine vent hose • Clip in tank vent valve • Tighten bolt • Connect 2 wiring harness plugs – Tank venting valve, hot film mass air flowmeter
40. 40. Attach engine cover • Unscrew oil filler port cover • Tighten 2x bolt 8 Nm • Screw on oil filler port cover
41. 41. Connect battery
42. 42. Calibrate steering angle sensor • Switch ignition on

Note. Turn steering wheel once from right stop to left stop.

43. 43. Program volatile memory
44. 44. Close bonnet
