Remove
- 1. Open bonnet
Important. In vehicles with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic settings every time the battery is disconnected and has to be recalibrated.
- 2. Disconnect battery • Ground connection from negative terminal – Slacken nut
- 3. Remove right engine splash guard • Unscrew 3 bolts (1) • Remove body-bound rivet (arrow)
- 4. Detach ribbed V-belt • Mark direction of rotation • Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner (arrow) clockwise using KM-6131 • Insert KM-955-2 (1) • Slacken ribbed V-belt tensioner
- 5. Undo ribbed V-belt tensioner • Remove bolt (1) • Push ribbed V-belt tensioner to side in direction of arrow until lower alternator bolt is accessible
- 6. Detach alternator • Detach alternator wiring harness – Unscrew 2x nuts (1) • Detach 2x bolted connections (2) and (3) • Remove alternator
Install
- 7. Install alternator • Place alternator in bracket • Tighten 2x screw connections 35 Nm • Attach alternator wiring harness – Tighten 2 nuts
- 8. Attach ribbed V-belt tensioner • Tighten bolt (M8) 20 Nm
- 9. Insert ribbed V-belt • Position ribbed V-belt – Pay attention to direction of travel and installation position • Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner with KM-6131 • Remove KM-955-2 • Slacken ribbed V-belt tensioner
- 10. Install right engine splash guard • Tighten 3x bolts • Install body-bound rivet
- 11. Lower vehicle by its full height
- 12. Connect battery • Ground terminal to ground pole – Tighten nut
- 13. Program volatile memory
- 14. Calibrate steering angle sensor • Turn on ignition
Note. Turn the steering wheel once from the right stop to left stop.
- 15. Close bonnet
