Engine Cuts Out; Does Not Start Engine - Faulty Control Unit Opel Astra G

Subject:Engine - ECU malfunction

Complaint:Engine stops running / does not start, engine hesitation, various Trouble Codes stored.
Cause:Corrosion of various ECU resistors.
Production:Modified ECUs are used in production as of the following serial numbers: Antwerp: Y5 137 328, Bochum: Y2 133 237, Eisenach: Y6 061 304, Ellesmere Port: Y8 069 205.

Remedy:

In case of complaint check the production date of ECU according to the bar code described below.

Procedure:

1. The 9th digit (Pic., I) indicates the production year. 8 = 1998

2. The digits 10 to 12 (Pic., II) indicate the production day of the year. 085 = 85th day of the year.

3. Only ECUs with a date code from 8001 up to 9342 have to be replaced, except remanufactured ECUs. The remanufactured ECUs must not be replaced.

Note: All replaced ECUs have to be returned immediately to the European Core Return Center.

The regular warranty procedure should be used for claiming Set-up time.
