| Cause: | Corrosion of various ECU resistors. |
| Production: | Modified ECUs are used in production as of the following serial numbers: Antwerp: Y5 137 328, Bochum: Y2 133 237, Eisenach: Y6 061 304, Ellesmere Port: Y8 069 205. |
Remedy:
In case of complaint check the production date of ECU according to the bar code described below.
Procedure:
1. The 9th digit (Pic., I) indicates the production year. 8 = 1998
2. The digits 10 to 12 (Pic., II) indicate the production day of the year. 085 = 85th day of the year.
3. Only ECUs with a date code from 8001 up to 9342 have to be replaced, except remanufactured ECUs. The remanufactured ECUs must not be replaced.

Note: All replaced ECUs have to be returned immediately to the European Core Return Center.
