Engine Control Module Replace

Remove

  1. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the air intake duct.
  2. Loosen the clamps and remove the air intake duct from the mass air flow sensor assembly and the throttle body.
  3. Disconnect the engine control module (ECM) connector.
  1. Remove the ECM bracket retaining nuts.
  2. Remove the ECM with the bracket attached from the battery tray.
  1. Unclip the ECM to the bracket and separate the ECM from the bracket.

Install

  1. Install the ECM into the bracket.
  2. Install the ECM with the bracket attached to the battery tray.

Tighten

Tighten the engine control module bracket retaining nuts to 15 N•m (11 lb-ft).

  1. Connect the ECM connectors.
  2. Connect the negative battery cable.

Important: If the ECM has been replaced, perform the ECM reprogramming and the oil remaining life reset process.
