  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  2. Check the MAP SENSOR in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Is about 3 kPa (1.0 in.Hg, 26 mmHg), or 0.23 V or less indicated? YES - Go to step 3. NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAP sensor and the PCM.
  3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  4. Disconnect the MAP sensor 3P connector.
  5. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  6. Check the MAP SENSOR in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Is about 3 kPa (1.0 in.Hg, 26 mmHg), or 0.23 V or less indicated? YES - Go to step 12 . NO - Go to step 7.
  7. Measure voltage between MAP sensor 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3. Is there about 5 V? YES - Go to step 16 . NO - Go to step 8.
  8. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  9. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  10. Disconnect PCM connector B (44P).
  11. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal B18 and MAP sensor 3P connector terminal No. 1. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 23 NO - Repair open in the wire between the PCM (B18) and the MAP sensor, then go to step 18 .
  12. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  13. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  14. Disconnect PCM connector B (44P).
  15. Check for continuity between MAP sensor 3P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between the PCM (B30) and the MAP sensor, then go to step 18 . NO - Go to step 23 .
  16. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  17. Replace the MAP sensor (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220946-S26621663042006022100000) ).
  18. Reconnect all connectors.
  19. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  20. Reset the PCM with the HDS.
  21. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-220951-S17680691112006022100000) ).
  22. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P0107 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAP sensor and the PCM, then go to step 1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO - Troubleshooting is complete.
  23. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM (see «PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220945-S16531944742006022100000) ).
  24. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P0107 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAP sensor and the PCM, then go to step 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO - If the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM (see «PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-220946-S32339521312006022100000) ).

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  2. Check the MAP SENSOR in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Is about 160 kPa (47.1 in.Hg, 1,197 mmHg), or 4.49 V or more indicated? YES - Go to step 3. NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAP sensor and the PCM.
  3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  4. Disconnect the MAP sensor 3P connector.
  5. Connect MAP sensor 3P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 3 with a jumper wire.
  6. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  7. Check the MAP SENSOR in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Is about 160 kPa (47.1 in.Hg, 1,197 mmHg), or 4.49 V or more indicated? YES - Go to step 8. NO - Go to step 18 .
  8. Remove the jumper wire from the MAP sensor 3P connector.
  9. Measure voltage between MAP sensor 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3. Is there about 5 V? YES - Go to step 14 . NO - Go to step 10.
  10. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  11. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  12. Disconnect PCM connector B (44P).
  13. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal B33 and MAP sensor 3P connector terminal No. 3. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 25 . NO - Repair open in the wire between the PCM (B33) and the MAP sensor, then go to step 20 .
  14. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  15. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  16. Disconnect PCM connector B (44P).
  17. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal B30 and MAP sensor 3P connector terminal No. 2. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 25 . NO - Repair open in the wire between the PCM (B30) and the MAP sensor, then go to step 20 .
  18. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  19. Replace the MAP sensor (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220946-S26621663042006022100000) ).
  20. Reconnect all connectors.
  21. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  22. Reset the PCM with the HDS.
  23. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-220951-S17680691112006022100000) ).
  24. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P0108 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAP sensor and the PCM, then go to step 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO - Troubleshooting is complete.
  25. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM (see «PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220945-S16531944742006022100000) ).
  26. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P0108 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAP sensor and the PCM, then go to step 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO - If the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM (see «PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-220946-S32339521312006022100000) ).

DTC P16BB: Alternator B Terminal Circuit Low Voltage

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
  3. Start the engine.
  4. Check under these conditions: A/C on Temperature control at maximum cool Blower fan at maximum speed Rear window defogger on Headlights on high beam
  5. Hold the engine speed at 2,000 rpm (in Park or neutral) for 1 minute.
  6. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P16BB indicated? YES - Go to step 7. NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the alternator and the under-hood fuse/relay box, and check the battery performance (see «BATTERY TEST»(ref-220993-S13893657852006022200000) ).
  7. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the alternator and the under-hood fuse/relay box (+B line). Are the connections and terminals OK? YES - Go to step 8. NO - Repair the connectors or terminals, then go to step 9 .
  8. Check for an open in the wire between the alternator and under-hood fuse/relay box at the starter subharness. Is the harness OK? YES - Replace the alternator (see «ALTERNATOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-220934-S10329968152006022100000) ), then go to step 9. NO - Repair open in the wire between the alternator and the under-hood fuse/relay box, then go to step 9.
  9. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  10. Reset the PCM with the HDS.
  11. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-220951-S17680691112006022100000) ).
  12. Start the engine.
  13. Check under these conditions: A/C on Temperature control at maximum cool Blower fan at maximum speed Rear window defogger on Headlights on high beam
  14. Hold the engine speed at 2,000 rpm (in Park or neutral) for 1 minute.
  15. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P16BB is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the alternator and the under-hood fuse/relay box, then go to step 1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting. NO - Troubleshooting is complete.

  1. Check for poor connections at the alternator 4P connector. Are the connections OK? YES - Go to step 2. NO - Repair the connector, then go to step 18 .
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  3. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
  4. Start the engine.
  5. Check under these conditions: A/C on Temperature control at maximum cool Blower fan at maximum speed Rear window defogger on Headlights on high beam
  6. Hold the engine speed at 2,000 rpm (in Park or neutral) for 1 minute.
  7. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P16BC indicated? YES - Go to step 8. NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the alternator.
  8. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  9. Disconnect the alternator 4P connector.
  10. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  11. Measure voltage between alternator 4P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 12. NO - Repair open in the wire between the alternator (IG1 line) and the No. 18 IG ACG (15 A) fuse in driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, then go to step 18 .
  12. Measure voltage between alternator 4P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground. Is there about 5 V? YES - Replace the alternator (see «ALTERNATOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-220934-S10329968152006022100000) ), then go to step 18 . NO - Go to step 13.
  13. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  14. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  15. Disconnect PCM connector C (44P).
  16. Connect alternator 4P connector terminal No. 4 to body ground with a jumper wire.
  17. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal C41 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 26 . NO - Repair open in the wire between the PCM (C41) and the alternator, then go to step 18.
  18. Reconnect all connectors.
  19. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  20. Reset the PCM with the HDS.
  21. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-220951-S17680691112006022100000) ).
  22. Start the engine.
  23. Check under these conditions: A/C on Temperature control at maximum cool Blower fan at maximum speed Rear window defogger on Headlights on high beam
  24. Hold the engine speed at 2,000 rpm (in Park or neutral) for 1 minute.
  25. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P16BC is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the alternator and the PCM, then go to step 1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting. NO - Troubleshooting is complete.
  26. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM (see «PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220945-S16531944742006022100000) ).
  27. Start the engine.
  28. Check under these conditions: A/C on Temperature control at maximum cool Blower fan at maximum speed Rear window defogger on Headlights on high beam
  29. Hold the engine speed at 2,000 rpm (in Park or neutral) for 1 minute.
  30. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P16BC is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the alternator and the PCM, then go to step 1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting. NO - If the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM (see «PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-220946-S32339521312006022100000) ).

DTC P2A00: Rear A/F Sensor (Bank 1, Sensor 1) Range/Performance Problem; DTC P2A03: Front A/F Sensor (Bank 2, Sensor 1) Range/Performance Problem

Note. Information marked with an asterisk (*) applies to the front bank (Bank 2).

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
  3. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm without load (in Park or neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
  4. Test-drive under these conditions: Engine coolant temperature above 158°F (70°C) A/T in D position Vehicle speed at 30 mph (48 km/h) or more, and engine speed at 2,600 rpm or less Drive at an engine speed of 1,600 rpm. Accelerate to full open throttle for 5 seconds, then slow down with the throttle completely closed.
  5. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2A00 and/or P2A03* in the DTCs MENU with the HDS. Does the screen indicate FAILED? YES - Go to step 6. NO - If the screen indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the A/F sensor (Sensor 1) and the PCM. If it is EXECUTING, keep driving until a result comes on. If the screen indicates OUT OF CONDITION, go to step 3 and recheck.
  6. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  7. Replace the A/F sensor (Sensor 1) (see «A/F SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220946-S35067538432006022100000) ).
  8. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  9. Reset the PCM with the HDS.
  10. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-220951-S17680691112006022100000) ).
  11. Test-drive under these conditions: Engine coolant temperature above 158°F (70°C) A/T in D position Vehicle speed at 30 mph (48 km/h) or more, and engine speed at 2,600 rpm or less Drive at an engine speed of 1,600 rpm. Accelerate to full open throttle for 5 seconds, then slow down with the throttle completely closed.
  12. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P2A00 and/or P2A03* is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the A/F sensor (Sensor 1) and the PCM, then go to step 1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO - Go to step 13.
  13. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2A00 and/or P2A03* in the DTCs MENU with the HDS. Does the screen indicate PASSED? YES - Troubleshooting is complete. NO - If the screen indicates FAILED, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the A/F sensor (Sensor 1) and the PCM, then go to step 1 . If the screen indicates EXECUTING, keep driving until a result comes on. If the screen indicates OUT OF CONDITION, go to step 10 and recheck.

  1. Turn ignition switch ON (II).
  2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
  3. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC U0073 and/or U0155 indicated? YES - Go to step 4. NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the gauge control module, the VSA modulator-control unit, the TPMS control unit, the engine mount control unit, and the PCM.
  4. Check for DTCs in the Body Electrical system DTCs menu with the HDS. Is DTC B1168, B1169, and/or B1178 indicated? YES - Go to step 5. NO - Do the gauge control module input test (see «GAUGE CONTROL MODULE INPUT TEST»(ref-220996-S31899314262006022200000) ).
  5. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  6. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  7. Disconnect PCM connector A (44P).
  8. Remove the gauge control module (see «GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT»(ref-221006-S24025336042006022200000) ).
  9. Disconnect the gauge control module 30P connector.
  10. Disconnect the VSA modulator-control unit 47P connector.
  11. Disconnect the engine mount control unit.
  12. Disconnect the TPMS control unit 20P connector.
  13. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminals A1, A36, and body ground individually. Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between the gauge control module, the VSA modulator-control unit, the TPMS control unit, the engine mount control unit and the PCM (A1 (A36)), then go to step 18 . NO - Go to step 14.
  14. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminals A1 and A36. Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between PCM connector terminals A36 (CANH line) and A1 (CANL line), then go to step 18 . NO - Go to step 15.
  15. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal A36 and these connector terminals: PCM CONNECTOR TERMINAL A36 AND CONNECTORS CONTINUITY Connector Terminal Gauge control module 30P No. 24 (WHT) VSA modulator-control unit 47P No. 11 (WHT) TPMS control unit 20P No. 19 (WHT) Engine mount control unit 20P No. 5 (WHT) Is there continuity between the PCM terminal and each of the terminals in the chart? YES - Go to step 16. NO - Repair open in the wire between the PCM (A36) and the appropriate connector, then go to step 18 .
  16. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal A1 and these connector terminals: PCM CONNECTOR TERMINAL A36 AND CONNECTORS CONTINUITY Connector Terminal Gauge control module 30P No. 23 (RED) VSA modulator-control unit 47P No. 15 (RED) TPMS control unit 20P No. 10 (RED) Engine mount control unit 20P No. 17 (RED) Is there continuity between the PCM terminal and each of the terminals in the chart? YES - Go to step 17. NO - Repair open in the wire between the PCM (A1) and the appropriate connector, then go to step 18 .
  17. Referring to the following chart below, select the row that most closely represents the combination of DTCs retrieved from the PGM-FI, VSA, TPMS, and Body Electrical systems. Then check the connections at the control module indicated in the last column. If all the connections are OK, substitute the control module. After substituting the control module, check for DTCs with the HDS.   18. Reconnect all connectors.
  19. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  20. Reset the PCM with the HDS.
  21. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-220951-S17680691112006022100000) ).
  22. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC U0073 and/or U0155 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the gauge control module, the VSA modulator-control unit, the TPMS control unit, and the PCM, then go to step 1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO - Troubleshooting is complete.

DLC Circuit Troubleshooting

Note. If the PCM does not communicate with the HDS, do this troubleshooting procedure. Check that MIL circuit is normal, then do this troubleshooting.

  1. Measure voltage between DLC terminal No. 16 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 2. NO - Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 16 and the No. 8 FI ECU (PCM) (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box.
  2. Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 4 and No. 16. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 3. NO - Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 4 and body ground (G502).
  3. Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 16. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 4. NO - Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 5 and body ground (G502).
  4. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  5. Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 7. Is there 8.5 V or more? YES - Go to step 12 . NO - Go to step 6.
  6. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  7. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  8. Disconnect PCM connector A (44P).
  9. Check for continuity between DLC terminal No. 7 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair short to ground in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and the PCM (A43). After repairing the wire, check for a DTC with the HDS, and go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO - Go to step 10.
  10. Connect DLC terminal No. 7 to body ground with a jumper wire.
  11. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal A43 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM (see «PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220945-S16531944742006022100000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM (see «PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-220946-S32339521312006022100000) ). NO - Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and the PCM (A43). After repairing the wire, check for a DTC with the HDS, and go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
  12. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  13. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  14. Disconnect PCM connector A (44P).
  15. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  16. Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 7. Is there about 0 V? YES - Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM (see «PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220945-S16531944742006022100000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM (see «PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-220946-S32339521312006022100000) ). NO - Repair short to power in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and the PCM (A43). After repairing the wire, check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS, and go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.

  1. Relieve fuel pressure (see «FUEL PRESSURE RELIEVING»(ref-220952-S10857241702006022200000) ).
  2. Remove the intake manifold (see «REMOVAL»(ref-220942-S09039881152006022100000) ).
  3. Disconnect the connectors from the injectors (A).
  4. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting (B).
  5. Remove the fuel rail mounting bolts (C) from the fuel rail (D).
  6. Remove the injector clip (E) from the fuel rail.
  7. Remove the injectors from the rails.
  8. Coat the new O-ring (A) with clean engine oil, and insert the injectors (B) into the fuel rail (C).
  9. Install the injector clip (D).
  10. Coat the new injector O-ring (E) with clean engine oil.
  11. Install the injectors in the injector base.
  12. Install the fuel rail mounting bolts.
  13. Install the connectors on the injectors.
  14. Connect the quick-connect fitting (see «FUEL LINE/QUICK-CONNECT FITTING INSTALLATION»(ref-220952-S07947479152006022200000) ).
  15. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs about 2 seconds, the fuel pressure in the fuel line rises. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage.
  16. Install the intake manifold (see «INSTALLATION»(ref-220942-S14638514442006022100000) ).
