Scheme 161: Front Bank (Bank 2)
  1. Disconnect the front A/F sensor 8P connector (A), then remove the A/F sensor (B).
  2. Install the front A/F sensor in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Disconnect the rear A/F sensor 8P connector (A), then remove the rear A/F sensor (B).
  2. Install the rear A/F sensor in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 163: Front Bank (Bank 2)
  1. Disconnect the front secondary HO2S 4P connector (A), then remove the front secondary HO2S (B).
  2. Install the front secondary HO2S in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Disconnect the rear secondary HO2S 4P connector (A), then remove the rear secondary HO2S (B).
  2. Install the rear secondary HO2S in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 165: ECT Sensor 1 Replacement
  1. Drain the engine coolant (see «COOLANT REPLACEMENT»(ref-220943-S33824314882006022100000) ).
  2. Remove the intake manifold cover (see step 1 in «REMOVAL»(ref-220942-S09039881152006022100000) ).
  3. Disconnect the ECT sensor 1 2P connector (A).
  4. Remove ECT sensor 1 (B).
  5. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (C), then refill the radiator with engine coolant (see «COOLANT REPLACEMENT»(ref-220943-S33824314882006022100000) ), and bleed air from the cooling system with the heater valve open.

Scheme 166: ECT Sensor 2 Replacement
  1. Drain the engine coolant (see «COOLANT REPLACEMENT»(ref-220943-S33824314882006022100000) ).
  2. Remove the intake manifold cover (see step 1 in «REMOVAL»(ref-220942-S09039881152006022100000) ).
  3. Disconnect the ECT sensor 2 2P connector (A).
  4. Remove ECT sensor 2 (B).
  5. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (C), then refill the radiator with engine coolant (see «COOLANT REPLACEMENT»(ref-220943-S33824314882006022100000) ), and bleed air from the cooling system with the heater valve open.

  1. Remove the intake manifold cover (see step 1 in «REMOVAL»(ref-220942-S09039881152006022100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the IAT sensor 2P connector (A).
  3. Remove the IAT sensor (B).
  4. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (C).

  1. Remove the intake manifold cover (see step 1 in «REMOVAL»(ref-220942-S09039881152006022100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the MAP sensor connector (A).
  3. Remove the screw (B).
  4. Remove the MAP sensor (C).
  5. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (D).

  1. Move the auto-tensioner to remove tension from the drive belt, then remove the belt (see «DRIVE BELT AUTO-TENSIONER REPLACEMENT»(ref-220934-S15571263042006022100000) ).
  2. Remove the crankshaft pulley, J35A6 engine (see «CRANKSHAFT PULLEY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-220939-S24931101672006022100000) ), J35A7 engine (see «CRANKSHAFT PULLEY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-220939-S25530889332006022100000) ).
  3. Remove the upper and lower front covers from the engine, J35A6 engine (see step 9 in «TIMING BELT REMOVAL»(ref-220939-S26185362742006022100000) ), J35A7 engine (see step 9 in «TIMING BELT REMOVAL»(ref-220939-S08293554912006022100000) ).
  4. Remove the CKP sensor (A) from the oil pump.
  5. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal.
  6. Do the CKP pattern learn procedure (see «CKP PATTERN CLEAR/CKP PATTERN LEARN»(ref-220945-S09583441882006022100000) ).

  1. Remove the timing belt, J35A6 engine (see «TIMING BELT REMOVAL»(ref-220939-S26185362742006022100000) ), J35A7 engine (see «TIMING BELT REMOVAL»(ref-220939-S08293554912006022100000) ).
  2. Remove the front camshaft pulley (CMP sensor pulse plate) (A).
  3. Disconnect the CMP sensor connector (B), then remove the back cover (C).
  4. Remove the CMP sensor (A) from the back cover.
  5. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal. Install the timing belt, J35A6 engine (see «TIMING BELT INSTALLATION»(ref-220939-S12826556062006022100000) ), J35A7 engine (see «TIMING BELT INSTALLATION»(ref-220939-S08217246332006022100000) ).
  6. Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure (see «CKP PATTERN CLEAR/CKP PATTERN LEARN»(ref-220945-S09583441882006022100000) ).

Scheme 172: Knock Sensor Replacement
  1. Remove the intake manifold (see «REMOVAL»(ref-220942-S09039881152006022100000) ).
  2. Remove the injector rails and the base.
  3. Disconnect the knock sensor 1P connector (A), then remove the knock sensor (B).
  4. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.
  2. Make sure the HDS communicates with the PCM. If it doesn't, skip steps 3 to 6 and 16 and clean the throttle body (see «THROTTLE BODY TEST»(ref-220953-S11980502632006022200000) ) and replace the engine oil (see «ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT»(ref-220941-S29959722872006022100000) ) after this procedure.
  3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  4. Select the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.
  5. Do the TP POSITION CHECK in the ETCS TEST.
  6. US model: Select READ DATA in the REPLACE PCM with the HDS.
  7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  8. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  9. Remove the cover (D).
  10. Disconnect the PCM connectors (A), (B), (C). NOTE: PCM connector A, B, and C have symbols (A= square, B=triangle and C=circle) embosed on them for identification.
  11. Remove the bolts (E), then remove the PCM (F).
  12. Install the PCM in the reverse order of removal.
  13. Open the SCS with the HDS.
  14. Turn the ignition switch ON (II). NOTE: US model: DTC P0630 "VIN Not Programmed or Mismatch" may be stored because the VIN has not been programmed into the PCM; ignore it, and continue this procedure.
  15. US model: Input the VIN to the PCM with the HDS.
  16. US model: Select WRITE DATA in the REPLACE PCM with the HDS.
  17. Rewrite the immobilizer code with the PCM replacement procedure in the HDS; it allows you to start the engine.
  18. Reset the PCM with the HDS.
  19. Do the idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-220951-S17680691112006022100000) ).
  20. Do the CKP pattern learn procedure (see «CKP PATTERN CLEAR/CKP PATTERN LEARN»(ref-220945-S09583441882006022100000) ).
