Circuit Description

Internal Mode Switch (IMS) is a sliding contact switch attached to selector detent inside transaxle side cover. PCM receives 4 inputs from IMS to indicate position of transaxle range selector. Input voltage level at PCM is battery voltage when IMS is open and low voltage when switch is closed to ground. IMS parameters represented are signals "A", "B", "C" and "P". If PCM detects a combination of IMS signals that are invalid, or a transitional state (between gear selector positions), while attempting to start vehicle, then DTC P1819 sets.
