Removal & Installation 1 illustration ~114 words
CAUTIONDo not touch the connector pins or soldered components on the circuit board in order to prevent possible electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage to the PCM.
CAUTIONTurn OFF the ignition when installing or removing the PCM connectors and disconnecting or reconnecting the power to the PCM (battery cable, PCM pigtail, PCM fuse, jumper cables, etc.) in order to prevent internal PCM damage.
CAUTIONBefore servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

PCM is located inside air cleaner housing assembly. (Scheme 2) Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the screws from the air cleaner top cover. Remove the air cleaner top cover. Disconnect the harness connectors from the PCM. Remove the PCM.

  1. Connect the PCM electrical connectors to the PCM. Tighten connectors to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-159248-S05123880852003112000000) . Install the PCM into the air cleaner housing assembly.
  2. Install the air cleaner top cover. Connect the negative battery cable. The replacement PCM will NOT allow Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump operation until a total of 10 miles have been accumulated. The new PCM must be programmed. See «POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE»(ref-159248-S41404358082003112100000) in PROGRAMMING.
