Fuel System Cleaning Buick Century VI

Note. When flushing the fuel tanks, handle the fuel and water mixture as a hazardous material. Handle the fuel and water mixture in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Note. Only use oil-free compressed air in order to blow out the fuel pipes. If the fuel filter is plugged, the fuel tank should be inspected internally and cleaned if necessary.

  1. Release fuel system pressure. See «FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE»(ref-159248-S06644035342003112000000) . Remove the fuel tank. See «FUEL TANK»(ref-159248-S17054805972003112000000) . Remove the fuel sender assembly. See «FUEL SENDER ASSEMBLY»(ref-159248-S06320356252003112000000) .
  2. Inspect the fuel sender strainer. Replace a contaminated strainer. Flush the fuel tank with hot water. Pour the water out of the fuel sender assembly opening in the fuel tank. Rock the fuel tank in order to be sure that the removal of the water from the fuel tank is complete.
  3. Allow the tank to dry completely before reassembly. Install the fuel sender assembly. See «FUEL SENDER ASSEMBLY»(ref-159248-S06320356252003112000000) . Install the fuel tank. See «FUEL TANK»(ref-159248-S17054805972003112000000) .
