Checking the wiring
Check the power supply cable between rear electronic module (REM) connector #B20 (#D20) and tilt sensor connector terminal #1. Check for an intermittent open-circuit.
Check the ground lead between the rear electronic module (REM), the ground terminal and tilt sensor connector terminal #5. Check for an intermittent open-circuit.
If no fault was found, try a new sensor.

Disconnect the connector from the lamp housing for the license plate lighting.
Check that the button has not stuck in the pressed in position. Check that there is not a short-circuit in the contact breaker for the switch: Take a reading between terminal #1 and ground.
Check the signal cable between rear electronic module connector terminal #B07 (#D7) and lamp housing connector terminal #1 for the license plate lighting for an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to Short-circuit to ground, intermittent faults .

Checking components and wiring
Note. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) may be stored if the incorrect roof spoiler is installed. Do not replace the roof spoiler if the stop lamp is working.
Check the rear electronic module (REM) and the high-mounted stop lamp connectors. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Check for loose connections. Check for damage carefully.
HINT: When the stop lamp is activated, the voltage between #1 and #5 in the connector for the stop lamp must be battery voltage.
Check the power supply cable between rear electronic module (REM) terminal #4D (#B04) and brake light connector terminal #1. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Check the ground lead between brake light connector terminal #5 and the ground terminal. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Try a new brake light if no faults were found.
Remedy as necessary.
