Removal of covers

Remove
- throttle pulley cover
- shield over valve on fuel distribution manifold
Connection
- Connect adapter 999 5484 to fuel drainage unit 981 2270, 2273 and 2282.
- Connect adapter to valve on fuel distribution manifold, with adapter in locked position (i.e. valve closed as in picture 1 above).
- Start fuel drainage unit.
- Unlock adapter i.e. valve closed as in picture 2 above).
- Jack up car.

Remove
- fuel filter valve cap
Connect vent hose 999 5480 to valve before fuel filter.
Drainage of system takes approx. 2 minutes.
Installation
- Reinstall components in reverse order.
Note. Remember to refit valve caps.
Draining fuel tank
Use draining unit 9812270 , 9812273 and 9812282 .
Insert the hose through the filler pipe.
Note. Insert the hose at least 1 meter in order to reach the fuel. Cut the end of hose at an angle to get past all sharp edges.

Remove
- the side cushion according to «Side cushion»(ref-438269-S14162679872011120100000)
- the cushion according to «Cushion»(ref-438271-S29183318742011120100000)
- the backrest according to «Backrest»(ref-438271-S11907972482011120100000) .
Special tools: 9812270 , 9812273 , 9812282 .
Insert the heavy duty hose 1.3 meters into the fuel filler pipe, measured from the edge of the opening of the filler pipe.
Pump until a lot of air comes out.
Remove the hoses from the fuel tank unit.
Preparations

Fold the carpet (1) out of the way.
Remove the insulation panel.
Cover the area (2) around the cover and between the doors with absorbent material.
| CAUTION | Ensure that there is no risk of dirt getting into the tank. |
Removing the fuel tank filler cap over the fuel tank units

Remove the covers (1.2) over the fuel tank units.
Disconnect the fuel tank unit switch (3).
When replacing the right fuel tank unit
Secure a 1.5 m wire (4) to the seat support. The wire is needed to pull back the hoses and wiring to the left-hand side of the tank after the fuel tank unit has been replaced.
Draining the fuel tank

Special tools: 9995720 .
Open the right fuel tank unit. Insert the heavy duty hose and suck out the remains from the bottom of the right-hand side of the fuel tank.
Connect hose 9995721 to the heavy duty hose and suck out the remains from the bottom of the fuel tank unit reservoir.
Carefully the overflow pipe from the reservoir.
Remove the thin hose 9995721 from the heavy duty hose and connect it to the overflow pipe with a hose clamp.
Pump until a lot of air comes out.
Open the left fuel tank unit. Insert the heavy duty hose and suck out the remains from the bottom of the left-hand side of the fuel tank.
