Remove
Remove piston with con-rod – see operation "Piston with Con-rod, Remove and Install",
Before removing the piston pin (2) note the installation position of the con-rod (5) to the piston (4) – bead (6) on con-rod faces in the opposite direction to the arrow (3) on the piston head,
Remove retaining ring (1) from the piston boss with suitable tool – slide piston pin from piston and con-rod by hand,
Install
Coat piston pin with engine oil,
Press piston pin by hand into piston and con-rod until the ring groove is freely accessible,
Note the installation position of the con-rod in respect of the piston – bead on con-rod faces in the opposite direction to the arrow on the piston head - see illustration F 9818.
Insert retaining ring (1) in ring groove of piston,
Note length of ring gap – ring gap must be within the region of dimension I,
Dimension I = max. 30°,
Install piston with con-rod – see operation "Piston with Con-rod, Remove and Install",
