Note. The operation "Engine to Engine Assembly Stands (KM-412), Attach" is described for an X 20 DTL engine with AC and manual transmission. Proceed analogously for models which are equipped differently,
Remove
Remove engine - see operation "Engine, Remove and Install (X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTH up to MY 2003)" or "Engine, Remove and Install (Y 20 DTH from MY 2003, Y 22 DTR)".
Detach coolant line (4) from receiver-dryer,
Disconnect wiring harness plug (5) from AC compressor,
Detach coolant hose (1) from thermostat housing and coolant hose (2) from coolant pipe,
Remove cooling module (3) from brackets and lay or place aside,
Remove fastening bolts (4) and (5) from coolant pipe (1),
Unclip coolant hose (3) from brackets (2),
Detach coolant hose (6) from thermostat housing and remove coolant pipe with coolant hoses,
Detach refrigerant line from AC compressor,
Detach starter heat shield (1) from starter,
Detach fastening bolts for wiring trough (2), (4) and (5) from cylinder block,
Detach ground cable (3) from cylinder block,
Draw axle shafts out of differential using KM-902 and KM-313 - place collecting tray underneath.
Seal apertures in differential with closure plugs (bungs)
Remove fastening bolt (5) from front engine damping block,
Remove fastening bolt (4) from rear engine damping block,
Suspend engine on workshop crane and lift from front axle body,
Attach engine with Adapters KM-412-16 (1) and KM-412-8-A (2) to Engine Assembly Stands KM-412 (3),
Unhitch engine from workshop crane,
Remove all transmission fastening bolts – except one fastening bolt on cylinder block.
Suspend transmission on engine crane,
Remove last transmission fastening bolt and detach transmission (1) from engine,
