Note. It is a precondition for this operation that the engine has been removed and attached to the engine assembly stand (KM-412)- see operation "X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTH up to MY 2003)" or "Engine, Remove and Install (Y 20 DTH from MY 2003, Y 22 DTR)" and "Engine to Engine Assembly Stand (KM-412), Attach".
Install
Flange transmission (1) to engine and attach with a transmission fastening bolt,
Detach transmission from workshop crane,
Attach transmission to cylinder block and oil pan. Transmission to cylinder block – tightening torque 60 Nm / 44 lbf. ft,
Transmission to fluid pan (M10) – tightening torque 40 Nm / 29.5 lbf. ft,
Transmission to fluid pan (M8) – tightening torque 40 Nm / 29.5 lbf. ft,
Remove
Suspend engine on workshop crane. Detach Adapters KM-412-16 (1) and KM-412-8-A (2) from Engine Assembly Stands KM-412 (3),
Detach Adapters KM-412-16 and KM-412-8-A from cylinder block,
Place engine carefully on front axle body,
Install
Attach rear engine damping block to front axle body with new fastening nut (4) – tightening torque 55 Nm / 41 lbf. ft,
Attach front engine damping block to front axle body with new fastening nut (5) – tightening torque 55 Nm / 41 lbf. ft,
Unhitch engine from workshop crane,
Attach left and right axle shaft to differential - place collecting tray underneath.
Attach ground cable to cylinder block with fastening bolt (3),
Attach wiring trough to cylinder block with fastening bolts (2), (4) and (5),
Attach starter heat shield (1) to starter,
Attach refrigerant line to compressor of air-conditioning system - tightening torque 20 Nm.
Insert coolant pipe with coolant hoses and attach coolant hose (6) to thermostat housing,
Clip coolant hose (3) into bracket (2),
Attach coolant pipe to cylinder block and transmission with fastening bolts (4) and (5),
Insert cooling module (3) in bracket. Attach coolant hose (1) to thermostat housing and coolant hose (2) to coolant pipe,
Connect wiring harness plug (5) for AC compressor,
Attach refrigerant line (4) to receiver-drier - tightening torque 20 Nm.
Inspect
Check and correct transmission fluid level - see operation "Transmission Fluid Level, Check and Correct (F 23)" or "Transmission Fluid Level, Check and Correct (F 35)" in group "K".
Install
Install engine - see operation "Engine, Remove and Install (X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTH up to MY 2003)" or "Engine, Remove and Install (Y 20 DTH from MY 2003, Y 22 DTR)".
