Timing, Adjust Adjustment Is Performed on Cold Engine - Room Temperature.
Remove cylinder head cover - see operation "Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install". Remove front toothed belt cover - see operation "Front Toothed Belt Cover, Remove and Install".
Remove torsional vibration damper (1) - hold at fastening bolt of toothed belt pulley.
Loosen the fastening bolt of the toothed belt tension roller and turn the adjusting eccentric in the direction of the arrow (clockwise) until the pointer (2) is just in front of the left stop.
Take toothed belt off camshaft pulleys.
Proceed carefully when turning crankshaft. Careless adjustment will lead to contact and resulting damage to components e.g. valves touching pistons.
Using the hexagon on the camshaft, move the camshaft pulleys to the mark (short route). Lugs (2) on the guide bearings align with notches (1) on the camshaft pulleys. Fix camshaft pulleys in position with KM853 (4). Note timing mark - marks (3) must align with each other.
Fit the toothed belt - ensure that tension side (I) is taut. Adjust toothed belt tension - see operation "Toothed Belt Tension, Adjust". Attach torsional vibration damper to toothed belt pulley, counterhold fastening bolt of toothed belt pulley - tightening torque 20 Nm. Install front toothed belt cover - see operation "Front Toothed Belt Cover, Remove and Install". Install cylinder head cover - see operation "Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install".
