Camshaft, Replace
Remove cylinder head, see corresponding operation.
Remove all rocker arms.
Pull all hydraulic valve lifters out of cylinder head.
Remove both side installation opening covers.
In order to avoid damage to bearing bushings, pull camshaft out of cylinder head carefully. When doing this, support camshaft through side installation openings.

When using a new camshaft, take note of embossed identification on rear camshaft end.

In addition, camshafts are marked.
Engine Camshaft
C 24 NE blue/brown
25 NE white/brown
30 NE green/brown
C 30 LE green
C 30 NE blue/green
Camshafts with undersize 0.1 mm/0.003 in. are also marked with purple as colour code.
Coat all sliding and bearing surfaces of camshaft and valve lifter tops with MoS2 Lubricating Paste 19 48 565 (90 018 024).
Insert camshaft from front towards rear in cylinder head bearings.
When doing this, support camshaft through side installation openings.

Turn camshaft until guide pin of camshaft sprocket faces upwards.
Assemble cylinder head.
Install cylinder head.
Adjust hydraulic valve lifter.
