Remove
- 1. Carefully lever out retaining ring (1) with screwdriver and press out piston pin.
Important. Important:
- 2. Piston and piston pin are paired to each other and must not be mixed up. Measure
- 3. Before installing the piston, measure the piston installation play. Measure diameter of piston with commercially available micrometer, 7 mm (I) from lower edge of piston and offset by 90° from piston pin axis.
- 4. Determine value at the micrometer.
Adjust
- 5. Place appropriate insert and Dial Gauge MKM-571-B in internal precision micrometer and use micrometer to set Dial Gauge MKM-571-B to zero. Measure
- 6. Measure cylinder bore at bottom (3), centre (2) and top (1) alternating crosswise.
- 7. Piston installation play: With new engine: 0.031 up to max. 0.063; with old engine: up to max. 0.15 mm. Example: Cylinder bore diameter: 80.000 mm Piston diameter: – 79.955 mm Piston installation play: 0.045 mm
Important. Note installation position of piston and con-rod.
- 8. Fit con-rod and piston in such a way that when the pairing number (1) is visible, the arrow on the base of the piston points towards the engine timing side. Install, attach
- 9. Grease piston pin lightly and insert manually.
- 10. Install new retaining rings (2).
Note. Securing ring openings (arrow) are arranged opposite the recess in the eye of the piston pin.
