Cylinder Head Opel Omega B

DOHC Diesel Engine 2 illustrations ~191 words

This is a multiple valve cylinder head with 24 valves and 2 camshafts. In addition, there is also one injector between the inlet and outlet valves per cylinder.

The most important features of the cylinder head of the Y 25 DT engine are described below:

  • Aluminium casting.
  • Integrally cast timing case.
  • The coolant flows from the outlet side to the inlet side.
  • Coolant outlet in centre between 3rd and 4th cylinders.
  • The common-rail injectors are arranged centrally and vertically for each cylinder.
  • 4-valve technology.
  • One inlet swirl duct and one inlet tangential duct per cylinder.
  • Combined outlet ducts in the cylinder head. Two outlet ducts open into one exhaust manifold inlet per cylinder.
  • The cylinder head cover comprises a plastic housing with integrated fluid separator, pre-separator with cyclone, fine separator with downstream thread reel. Attachment to cylinder head via decoupling elements.
  • Three-layer cylinder head gasket – multi-layer steel gasket.
  • Water through-flow cross-sections adapted to the requirements of a uniform coolant flow specific to each cylinder.
