Fuel Cooling Opel Omega B

DOHC Diesel Engine 1 illustration

With the use of the common rail injection system, the fuel is heated to above normal due to the dwell time in the high-pressure rail and the high pressure of up to 1350 bar.

The diesel fuel may be heated up to 100 °C.

This makes it necessary to install fuel cooling.

The fuel radiator comprises a serpentine pipe with four turns which is attached to the vehicle underbody and is cooled by the airstream.

Fuel flows through the fuel radiator via the return.
