Key Interlock System Inspection

  1. Switch the ignition to ON.
  2. Perform the following procedures to inspect the key interlock system. If there is any malfunction, inspect the key interlock solenoid and NOT P position switch. (See «KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID INSPECTION»(ref-520491-S41788739742013010300000) .)(See «NOT P POSITION SWITCH INSPECTION»(ref-520491-S38966104182013010300000) .) Verify that the ignition cannot be switched to off when the selector lever is not in the P position. Verify that the ignition can be switched to off when the selector lever is in the P position.

  1. Perform the following procedures. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5]»(ref-520388-S24063200782013010300000).) (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]»(ref-520427-S28538867222013010300000).) Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5]»(ref-520388-S24063200782013010300000).) (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]»(ref-520427-S28538867222013010300000).) Remove the column cover. (See «COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-520454-S20642177192013010300000).) Disconnect the key interlock solenoid connector.   2. Measure the resistance between the key interlock solenoid terminals A and B. (Scheme 674): Identifying Key Interlock Solenoid Terminals If there is any malfunction, replace the steering lock. (See «STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WITHOUT ADVANCED KEYLESS ENTRY AND PUSH BUTTON START SYSTEM]»(ref-520445-S38694288302013010300000).) Key interlock solenoid specification Approx.36 ohms

  2. Inspect the continuity between the selector lever component terminals G and K. (Scheme 676): Identifying Selector Lever Component Terminals If there is any malfunction, replace the selector lever component.
