DTC P1289 & P1290: CHT SENSOR CIRCUIT (V6 ENGINE) Jaguar S-type I

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) sensor harness connector. (Схема №2) Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and CHT sensor harness connector White/Purple wire. If voltage is 4-6 volts, go to step 4. If voltage is not 4-6 volts, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Check continuity between ground and CHT sensor harness connector White/Purple wire. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in White/Purple wire between CHT sensor harness connector and PCM harness connector PI-1 terminal No. 40 and retest system.
  3. Disconnect PCM harness connectors. (Схема №5) Check continuity between ground and CHT sensor harness connector White/Purple wire. If continuity exists, repair short to ground and retest system. If continuity does not exist, replace PCM and retest system.
  4. Turn ignition off. Check continuity between ground and CHT sensor harness connector Brown/White wire. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open ground circuit and retest system.
  5. Disconnect PCM harness connectors. (Схема №5) Disconnect the following harness connectors: Both heated oxygen sensors. Engine oil temperature sensor. Fuel temperature sensor. Both camshaft position sensors. Injector pressure sensor. Throttle position sensor. Check continuity between ground and CHT sensor harness connector Brown/White wire. If continuity exists, repair short to ground and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If continuity does not exist, replace CHT sensor and retest system.
