DTC P0452 & P0453: FTP SENSOR CIRCUIT Jaguar S-type I

Testing & Diagnostics 1 illustration ~322 words
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Gray 8-pin fuel tank harness connector, located under vehicle, on fuel tank heat shield. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and fuel tank harness connector terminal No. 6 (Yellow/Purple wire). (Scheme 11) If voltage is more than one volt, go to next step. If voltage is one volt or less, repair sensor power supply circuit and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Check continuity between ground and fuel tank harness connector terminal No. 2 (Brown/White wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in signal ground circuit and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  3. Check continuity between ground and fuel tank harness connector terminal No. 3 (White/Purple wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in signal circuit and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  4. Disconnect PCM harness connectors. see scheme 5 Check continuity between ground and fuel tank harness connector terminal No. 3 (White/Purple wire). If continuity exists, repair short to ground and retest system. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  5. Remove fuel tank. Disconnect Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor harness connector. Check continuity of Yellow/Purple wire between FTP sensor harness connector and fuel tank harness connector terminal No. 6. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Yellow/Purple wire and retest system.
  6. Check continuity of Brown/White between FTP sensor harness connector and fuel tank harness connector terminal No. 2. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Brown/White wire and retest system.
  7. Check continuity of White/Purple wire between FTP sensor harness connector and fuel tank harness connector terminal No. 3. If continuity exists, replace FTP sensor and retest system. If continuity does not exist, repair open in White/Purple wire and retest system.
