DTC P1183 & P1184: EOT SENSOR CIRCUIT Jaguar S-type I

  1. Turn ignition off. Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) sensor harness connector, located near oil pressure switch. Measure resistance between EOT sensor terminals, with EOT sensor at specified temperature. See «TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE»(ref-11918-S04817308582000120400000) table. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace EOT sensor and retest system.
  2. Check continuity between ground and EOT sensor harness connector Brown/Green wire. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open ground circuit and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  3. Disconnect PCM harness connectors. (Схема №5) Check continuity of White/Green wire between EOT sensor harness connector and PCM harness connector PI-1 terminal No. 39. (Схема №6) If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in White/Green wire and retest system.
  4. Check continuity between ground and EOT sensor harness connector White/Green wire. If continuity exists, repair short to ground and retest system. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect the following harness connectors: Both front heated oxygen sensors. Engine fuel temperature sensor. Cylinder head temperature sensor (V6 models). Engine coolant temperature sensor (V8 models). Both camshaft position sensors. Injector pressure sensor. Throttle position sensor. Check continuity between ground and EOT sensor harness connector Brown/Green wire. If continuity exists, repair short to ground and retest system. If continuity does not exist, replace PCM and retest system.
