  1. Start the engine, and let it idle.
  2. Check the ELD in the DATA LIST with the HAS. Is 0.2 A or less indicated? YES -Go to next step. NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ELD and the PCM.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  4. Disconnect the ELD 3P connector.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  6. Measure the voltage between ELD 3P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES -Go to next step. NO -Repair an open in the wire between the No. B7 ACG (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the ELD, then go to step 13 .
  7. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  8. Jump the SCS line with the HAS.
  9. Disconnect PCM connector A (49P).
  10. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal A10 and ELD 3P connector terminal No. 1. Is there continuity? YES -Go to next step. NO -Repair an open in the wire between the PCM (A10) and the ELD, then go to step 13 .
  11. Check for continuity between ELD 3P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES -Go to next step. NO -Repair an open in the wire between the ELD and G302 (see «LEFT ENGINE COMPARTMENT WIRE HARNESS (DASH BRANCH) (BD)»(ref-360100-S42578102282010042600000) (+) then go to step 13 .
  12. Replace the ELD (see «ELD REPLACEMENT»(ref-360080-S09060842922010042600000) (+).
  13. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  14. Reset the PCM with the HAS.
  15. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-360079-S22847966492010042600000) (+).
  16. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HAS. Is DTC P1298 indicated? YES -Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ELD and the PCM, then go to next step. NO -Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
  17. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software (see «PCM UPDATE»(ref-360080-S11980508702010042600000) (+) or substitute a known-good PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE PCM»(ref-360056-S32194616542010042600000) (+).
  18. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HAS. Is DTC P1298 indicated? YES -Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ELD and the PCM. If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE PCM»(ref-360056-S32194616542010042600000) (+) then recheck. If the PCM was substituted, go to step 1 . NO -If the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM (see «PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-360080-S27881728262010042600000) (+). If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
