Intake Manifold Leak Testing Chrysler Crossfire I final

An intake manifold air leak is characterized by lower than normal manifold vacuum. Also, one or more cylinders may not be functioning.

WARNINGUSE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN THE ENGINE IS OPERATING. DO NOT STAND IN A DIRECT LINE WITH THE FAN. DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS NEAR THE PULLEYS, BELTS OR THE FAN. DO NOT WEAR LOOSE CLOTHING.
  1. Start the engine.
  2. Spray a small stream of water (Spray Bottle) at the suspected leak area.
  3. If engine RPM'S change, the area of the suspected leak has been found.
  4. Repair as required.

Scheme 111: INTAKE MANIFOLD
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner housing. See «REMOVAL»(ref-306563-S23334034382008121700000) .
  3. Remove the mass air flow sensor. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-306570-S42349870372008121700000) .
  4. Remove the fuel rail with fuel injectors. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-306570-S24432262242008121700000) .
  5. Disconnect the vacuum lines to the EGR valve, brake booster, crankcase ventilator and purge valve from the intake manifold.
  6. Disconnect the engine harness connectors.
  7. Disconnect the EGR pipe (1) at the EGR valve (2).
  8. Remove the air pump switchover valves (4).
  9. Remove the bolts, the intake manifold (1) and the gaskets (2).
